Brief Introduction to the Conference
The Sino-American Academic Library Forum for Cooperation and Development is the international academic forum of library and information science, co-organized by China Academic Social Sciences and Humanities Libraries (CASHL), Society of Chinese Studies Librarians (SCSL) and with the joint sponsorship the university library who hosts the forum. Since 2011, the forum was organized to discuss and explore topics related to special and regional material resources, and it has become a high quality academic library forum. The first forum was hosted by Xiamen University in 2011 with the theme on Regional Research and Research Libraries’ Resource Construction. The second was hosted by Lanzhou University in 2013 with the theme on Collection, Management and Sharing of the Resources in China’s Neighboring Nations. The third was hosted by Sichuan University in 2015 with the theme on Changing Academic Environment and Library: New Directions in Resource Construction. The fourth was hosted by University of Toronto in 2017 with the theme on New Directions in Knowledge Service for University Libraries. The fifth was hosted by Inner Mongolia University in 2019 with the theme on library and social development. The sixth was hosted by Sun Yat-sen University in 2021 with the theme on New direction of university library literature and service in post-epidemic era.
To further advance the cooperation between library professionals from China and outside of China in North America and other part of the world, the CASHL and the SCSL are co-organizing the Seventh Sino-American Academic Library Forum for Collaboration and Development, with the main theme “Open Scholarship: Build up New Scholarly Ecological Frameworks, Facilitate New Development of Academic Libraries”, to be held online in July 2023. Theme and Sub-themes are as the following:

2. Open Educational Resources (OER). Topics include but not limited to:

Trends of development in OER; research, practice, experience and feasibility of cross-country and cross-institution collaborations in public science, distance education, open universities, OER development and service strategies, etc. |
3. Open Data and Metadata Sharing. Topics include but not limited to:

Trends of development in open data and metadata sharing; research, practice, experience and feasibility of cross-country and cross-institution collaborations in open data policy, publishing, metadata sharing standards, data reuse, open data depository, etc. |
4. Free Conversation. Topics include but not limited to:

Discuss and share information on topics of common interest between library professionals from China and US; Provide information and answers to questions of common concerns, such as: how to facilitate collaborations in Open Scholarship, how to strengthen resource sharing, how to utilize open access resources, etc. |
